A filler is a clear gel based on hyaluronic acid – a substance that also occurs naturally in the body. Fillers are aimed at reducing lines and wrinkles and creating more volume. They can be applied in doses to give the face a more beautiful and younger appearance without looking unnatural.
Filler injections are applied to flatten, for example, frown lines, forehead lines, laugh lines, the nose-lip fold or others, or to improve the texture and volume of lips, jaw and cheeks.
The product is applied via carefully placed injections with a very fine needle into the (facial) skin. The treatment is virtually painless but a numbing cream can be used if desired. The treatment usually takes 15 to 30 minutes and gives immediate long-term results (6 to 12 months, up to 18 months with a repeat treatment).
